Our Mission is to positively affect the long term
environmental health of the planet by purchasing ranch and
farmland in strategic locations and mitigating the economic
activity, returning the land to a natural state, providing
haven for wildlife, reducing deforestation and creating an
educational platform.
The effects of deforestation and its relation to climate change
is no longer debatable. Our foundation works with local and
national governments and partner environmental
organizations to identify key properties to create private
protected areas and to educate local populations, school
children and university students in biodiversity and
sustainablilty. In this manner we contribute to protecting
our environment and combating its degradation.
Our Strategy is to focus on Conservation Regions and
Biodiversity Hotspots. Additionally, we select targeted
properties in areas with high or potentially high rates of
development, in order to offset growth and acquire
properties in the trust with a higher capital appreciation
potential.
Properties are identified and selected by the Board of
Directors in consultation with The Membership Council.
Once a final selection is made, a purchase offer is made and
the sale is closed upon. At that time, funds are transferred to
the seller and to a specific property management trust.
Very soon after closing, all economic activity is removed,
access to the property is sealed off and the mitigation phase
begins. Once mitigation is completed, the property is then
permanently held and maintained in a pristine state. The
educational phase completes the process as university grant
recipients visit the properties to conduct progress assessments
and biodiversity surveys.
The Back to Wild Foundation will grow in this manner,
through donations, acquiring and mitigating properties until
one day it becomes through its donor and members one of
the largest private landowners in the world, holding and
protecting fragile lands all over the world. Each donor will
be given a "stock certificate" reflecting the dollar value of
their donation and property details (not redeemable), as a
reflection of their participation.
